Trudi (Russelle) Pierce of Middletown, Iowa, passed away on January 12, 2012. Trudi was a homemaker until 1975 when she decided to go back to school to become a nurse. She worked in many areas of nursing, including ICU nurse, administrator and even instructor. Trudi’s family has established an endowed scholarship fund in Trudi’s memory to benefit SCC Nursing students. Additional gifts are still being accepted.
Robert Mapes, SCC Professor Emeritus, died on December 19, 2011. He was an auto mechanics instructor at SCC from 1969-1983. He also served in the Peace Corp from 1990-1993 at the age of 70, working in Guatemala and Cameroon. He established the Mapes-Heynen Automotive Technology Scholarship at SCC. Memorial gifts are still being accepted.
Timothy “Tim” J. Edwards died on December 29, 2010. His good friend and fellow alum Joe Lounsbury agreed to match Mr. Edwards’ memorial funds to establish a $10,000 endowed Agriculture scholarship at SCC in Tim’s memory. This endowed fund will provide at least one an annual scholarship to an eligible Agriculture student attending SCC.
