We live in a micro-fast, techno-world that everything is fast and impolite. Case in point, yes I’m old-school as they say, and I have regular cell phone. No music, no text, no tweet, face book, not anything. It is just a simple old phone with a simple ringtone. Now just wait a minute…I have a point to make. A friend of mine called me and said to me,” Hang up I’m going to text you”. Now maybe it is me, but why would you call me to let me know that you’re going to text me?? Then when he texted me I didn’t answer the text. Why?!? You called me so why should I answer your text after you called me? Again maybe it is me!
An additional quandary I have is Twitter. Not the web-site, just some of the people that uses twitter. Don’t get me wrong I would love to know “What are you doing?” (*snicker-lol)* Well, really no I don’t, but it is cute & different. My wife got me on Twitter. Again it’s just it a simple question turns out to be a blog not only for verbal abuse… from Basketball players’ commentary on a dunk, to Football players insulting homosexuals, or religion, or any other slang that it is. Twitter asks you just one simple question, and that is “what are you doing” that is it. So where did the disrespect come from? Yes I “tweet”, for my blog and my ministry. You ask me ‘what am I doing, and I’ll say either in school, or at church. That is keeps it simple, doesn’t it? So let’s not bring drama in this please.
My other comments are about Facebook. Now I like Facebook it helps you with looking for friends or connects you with some of your high school classmates or whoever. I do see the purpose of that. It also has game and fun stuff, and yes my wife as sign me on that too. I don’t see any impoliteness on Facebook so far. This is cool. Now MySpace I don’t know anything about it so I can’t comment on that, and YouTube is good for find out T.V. or song from my days. Okay, I’m not that old!!
So what is my message? Talk to people as human beings, not just some blog to make yourselves sound important, or to make the other look bad. We can do so much with this technology for the positive. For example, my wife and I use “Twitter & Facebook” for our ministry to preach Christ. You can uses it for whatever, all I’m saying is that isn’t too much negativity in the world now. Let’s not bring it on the Internet. Okay!
